Alice Dixson tries a 7-day juice cleanse

By Marah Ruiz

Actress Alice Dixson first tried doing a juice cleanse in 2012 after she was hospitalized for food poisoning.

According to her, the medication given to her at that time affected her digestive system.

"Ang binigay nila sa aking antibiotics and medicines were so strong that it also killed all of the good bacteria in my digestive system and left it very very weak," she shares in a new vlog.

Aside from that, her lifestyle during that time made her stomach condition worse.

"Also, ang diet ko back then was not that great. It was poor in quality and lacking in nutrition. And also because of my taping schedule, I developed insomnia dahil lagi akong nagpupuyat," she recalls.

Her worsening health lead her to try a natural remedy like a juice cleanse.

"For two years, this caused a lot of inflammation, gas and heartburn, bloatedness, irritability, constant fatigue and food intolerances as well as poor digestion. So nag-decide ako to try a cleanse," she says.

Guided by her cousin, Alice did liquid fasting for 10 days in between her shooting schedule and other events.

A juice cleanse or liquid fasting means that one must stop eating solid foods to supposedly give the digestive system time to rest.

Alice claims that it gave her a greater sense of wellness as it lead to an increase in energy level and improved bad eating habits.

During the quarantine, Alice decided to a try a juice cleanse again for seven days.

She consumed lots of fresh juices, potassium broth, honey lemon water, buko juice, kombucha, herbal decaf teas, of course lots of water.

She also avoided caffeine, soda, sugary or artificially sweetened drinks, dairy and flavored milks, alcohol, and artificial juice drinks.
