Demi Lovato reveals she had 3 strokes, a heart attack, and brain damage in new documentary

Demi Lovato has shocking revelations in her YouTube Originals documentary titled Dancing with the Devil, including suffering from three strokes, a heart attack, and brain damage.

The full trailer for the four-part docu had just been released and it contains powerful revelations about the events that led to Demi's nearly fatal overdose on July 24, 2018.

The Disney alumna and award-winning singer struggled with drug addiction for several years. And the docu seems to be aptly titled Dancing with the Devil since it will explore her long battle with her demons.

In the trailer's intro Demi says, “I've had so much to say over the past two years, wanting to set the record straight about what it was that happened.”

Demi's friends and family are also part of the documentary, telling the story of Demi's battle with sobriety from their point of view.

Music icons such as Christina Aguilera and Elton John also appear in the documentary.

In the trailer, the legendary English singer-songwriter talked about the difficulty of dealing with fame at a young age.

Elton said, “When you're young and you're famous, my God, it's tough.”

Demi's parents Dianna De La Garza and Patrick Lovato are also in the documentary, and they narrated how they seemed to have been blindsided by Demi's struggles.

He said, “Demi's good at making you believe she's okay.”

The "Skyscraper" and "Sorry Not Sorry" singer admits that she had kept her troubles to herself, and this was very likely the reason why she relapsed.

She shared, “Anytime that you suppress a part of yourself, it's gonna overflow.

“I crossed a line that I had never crossed.”

On the morning of July 24, 2018, the then 25-year-old Demi was found unconscious inside her home in Los Angeles and was administered Narcan, an emergency drug used for opiod overdoses.

A month before the overdose that almost took her life, Demi released a song titled "Sober," where she confessed to relapsing after being sober for six years.

In another YouTube Originals documentary titled Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, which was released in 2017, Demi confessed to using drugs such as cocaine and Xanax while advocating for sober living in 2012.

In the new docu, Dancing with the Devil, Demi and her closest friends and family recount in detail the 2018 overdose that nearly killed her.

In the trailer her dad Patrick vividly recalled one of their most dreaded moments.

He recalls telling the doctors, “What do you mean she's not gonna make it?”

Demi's mom also remembered the horrible sight of seeing Demi undergo extensive treatment after the overdose.

She narrated, “We're watching all of her blood come out of her body into a machine.”

But probably, the most shocking of all is the moment that Demi detailed the aftermath of her drug overdose.

She said, “I had three strokes. I had a heart attack. My doctors said that I had five to 10 more minutes.”

Demi Lovato's Dancing with the Devil documentary is set to be released on March 23. You can watch the full trailer below and hear snippets of her new song with the same title.
