G Tongi receives her first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine

Former actress and host Giselle “G” Tongi has recently received her COVID-19 vaccine as evidenced by her post on Friday, March 12, Philippine time.

On Instagram, G Tongi posted a photo of herself holding her COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card as proof that she's received her first shot to immunity from the virus.

The said record card was issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC, the national public health agency of the United States.

She wrote in the caption, “Exactly a year today that the World Health Organization announced that we are in a pandemic.

“I got my Pfizer shot and the process took literally 17 minutes [15 of which were waiting after the shot].

G Tongi advised, “Please get vaccinated when it's your turn. #covidvaccine.”

In the comment section, a fan asked if the former actress is part of the “priority group” in the States given that she received the immunization shot early on at this stage where most healthcare workers should be the first to be offered the vaccine.

She kindly answered, “I fall under the food and agriculture industry, yes.”

According to the CDC, people under the food and agricultural workers are part of Phase 1b under the category of “frontline essential workers.”

Aside from frontline essential workers, people aged 75 years and older are also under Phase 1b given their high risk of hospitalization, illness, and death from COVID-19.

Following Phase 1b is Phase 1c, which covers people aged 65 to 74, 16 to 64 with underlying medical conditions, and other essential workers.

The said recommendation by the CDC was made on December 22, 2020.

G Tongi has been living in the United States with her husband Tim Walters and their children Kenobi and Sakura Anne since the early 2000s.

There she obtained a bachelor's degree in communication studies at the University of California in Los Angeles.
