By Racquel Quieta

Actress and TV host Daiana Menezes proves once again that she's definitely a fighter and a strong woman, as she shared a throwback video that she filmed back in 2018, where she showed the scar from her breast cancer surgery.

Part of her caption read, “This video was taken at the backstage of ComiCon Asia 2018, I went on stage, hosted 2 days consecutively and stayed at the venue for about 8 hours each day. This is also 10 days after my cancer surgery. I didn't talk about it. No one publicly noticed what I was going through.”

In the video, Daiana reveals the scar on the upper left side of her breast where the incision for her breast cancer surgery was made.

She can be heard saying, “I guess nobody noticed this.”

Daiana also talked about what helped her power through as she privately battled breast cancer.

“I had the right people around me and the ones I knew cared deeply for my well-being and wouldn't interfere negatively on the choices and path I took for my healing, They were with me through my journey," she revealed.

She then explained why it was important for her to not share her breast cancer fight publicly in the beginning.

“When I was healing, I kept it to myself until I felt I could use my story to inspire.

“I didn't want a distraction or to be overly focused on the cancer topic, (because) 'where you put your attention is where you put your energy.'

“I chose to silently focus on knowing how to fix myself first before I face others and be comfortable to share and be able to use my experience to help others, not for pity or unsolicited opinions or advices, it's also important to discern what/ who you're listening to.”

Daiana also went on to inspire others fighting breast cancer and shared what she's learned from conducting thorough research since her diagnosis.

“If I was able to do it, you can do it.

“I did a lot of studying since I've been diagnosed and one of the wonderful things I fell in love in learning and researching #epigenetics , #neuroscience and in a nutshell, 'neurons that fire together, wire together.'

“Research indicates that most human diseases manifest from the interaction of genetic variants that predispose people to disease and modifiable environmental exposures, such as chemical, nutrition, behaviors, physical surroundings, both environmental and psychological, infections.”

She then mentioned some of the risk factors for cancer.

“#Cancer Research has shown that cancer is caused by genetic, hormonal and environmental risk factors combined.

“Some exposures associated with an increased risk of cancer risk include combination hormonal therapies, oral contraceptives, ionizing radiation, obesity, alcohol use and some synthetic estrogens. #parkinsondisease #Autism and more.”

Finally, Daiana had important words for those battling the big C and those who know other people who are going through it.

“It's ok to protect your #energy and heal, do you part, #love yourself, take #care of your #body and your #mind .

“Never take someone's feeling for granted because you never know how much #courage it took them to show it to you .”
