Inka Magnaye tests positive for COVID-19; thankful she already quit smoking

By Racquel Quieta

Social media influencer and former Eat Bulaga “Bida Voice: Shy Singing Competition” host Inka Magnaye recently revealed that she had tested positive for COVID-19.

She first shared her test result through a TikTok video on Janaury 6. In the said video, Inka can be seen waking up with a smile.

The first set of text reads: “Me, waking up happy in 2022, excited to get the year started on a great note.”

Then a hand tries to choke the unsuspecting Inka. Turns out it is another Inka trying to choke her in the video, with a superimposed text that reads, “testing positive.”

Inka said in the caption: “A few months ago, someone said to me that it isn't even a matter of IF anymore, but WHEN.

“Like that crazy video going around lately of Mario dodging all those obstacles, I was able to skirt around the rona for the past couple of years, but it looks like we're starting 2022 with some good ol' fashioned bed rest.

“Take care out there, kids. This is a fast one.”

In a separate TikTok video, she reiterated that the new variant of the COVID-19 is highly transmissible.

She narrated that early last year, she shared a bottle of drink with someone who eventually tested positive, but she didn't get the virus. But this time, she wasn't able to dodge COVID-19.

“I was just in a crowded eating place. Everyone I was with, tested negative beforehand, including me. And yet here we are,” Inka said.

She then pleaded people to not take the virus lightly.

“So, when the news says it's highly contagious, it's highly transmissible, believe it.”

Inka also reminded people to stay hydrated, eat vegetables and fruits, take vitamins, exercise, and most importantly stop smoking or vaping.

In a separate tweet, Inka expressed how grateful and relieved she is that she is no longer a smoker now that she contracted COVID-19.

“Now that I have COVID, I'm just SO THANKFUL I'm not a smoker anymore. I can't imagine how much harder this would be for me if I still smoked/vaped like I used to. If you haven't quit yet, please think about how you're living through a pandemic that attacks the lungs,” she tweeted.

In the comments section, Inka also added, “Yes, this is your sign to quit. If you don't quit, you die.”
