Thea Tolentino completes her first-ever commissioned painting

By Faye Almazan

Sparkle star Thea Tolentino is one happy artist as she sold her first commissioned painting.

Thea shared on Instagram her latest milestone as she posted photos of her and her finished artwork, which is inspired by Studio Ghibli.

“Sold my very first commissioned painting! [W]as finally able to give Skylor the painting!” the actress wrote in her caption.

According to Thea, it took her two and a half years to complete the artwork because of the pressure she put on herself to make it perfect.

“Grabe 'yung pagiging self-critical ko. Gusto ko perfect 'yung painting,” she continued.

Thea added, “At one point, I messaged him na ibabalik ko nalang yung downpayment kasi hindi ko talaga matapos 'yung painting. I was not happy painting anymore. Pero sabi niya sa'kin, “take my time there's no rush.” So, wala talagang pressure. Sarili ko lang talaga.”

Thea also expressed how she felt very happy when she finally completed the piece.

“Napakasaya ko nung natapos ko to! Thank you @noticemesenpaico,” she said.

Thea began her painting journey at the height of the pandemic in August 2020.

“Ang pinagkakaabalahan ko na lang ngayon is nagpi-paint ako and eventually kapag confident na ako, I think I would like to sell my paintings,” Thea said in a previous interview.

Thea recently flew to the US for the promotion of her romantic-comedy film, Take Me To Banaue.
