Derek Ramsay: “I've said many times, I'm gonna retire but it never seems to happen. I'm always coming back.”
Aside from being a prolific actor, returning Kapuso Derek Ramsay is also a very passionate athlete.
Before signing an exclusive contract with GMA Network, he even mulled going professional in golf.
"It's still there. I'm not going to give up on that dream but there are some things that are happening in 2019 that have derailed that plan.
“But I'm definitely gonna go after that dream," says Derek.
He admits that he once thought of giving it all up to focus solely on acting.
"I've said many times, I'm gonna retire but it never seems to happen. I'm always coming back," he muses.
"I'm gonna try and lie low more on frisbee. I've really taken a passion to golf," he adds.
He seems to be doing just fine--fitting both acting and sports into his busy schedule.
A painful back injury gave him a bit of pause, but it is clear to Derek that sports really play an important part of his life.
"In any sport, if you wanna excel, you need to train.
|If you wanna beat your own personal time, it's about how much training you put in, how much discipline you put into your nutrition," he shares.
The hunk actor adds, "To balance it with the things that we do--our craft, our passion--it's really, really difficult.
Derek is set to appear in his first Kapuso project, an upcoming teleserye titled The Better Woman, which pairs him up with actress Andrea Torres.
