Kapuso actor-entrepreneur Alden Richards may be reaping the success of his business now as a co-partner of Concha's Garden Cafe and franchise owner of a McDonald's branch but it wasn't all roses for him.

While at the reopening of the Concha's Garden Cafe in Silang, Cavite last Tuesday, May 29, Alden admitted that he faced financial problems when he started to invest in business.

"Since hindi pa ganoon kalaki 'yung capital ko in terms of money, talagang binuhos ko lahat, so medyo I almost went to zero when I entered the food business.

"Pero you just have to be patient and work hard for it.

“Mahirap 'yon especially sa mga tao na nasanay na may pera--you have to get used to your bank account na walang laman when you start a business.

"That's what happened to me before, anxieties, paano kung walang trabaho, paano kung hindi mag-work 'yung restaurant?

"But you just really have to be faithful to the Lord, to your business, to your skills, and to the people that you trust," he shared in an interview with the press.

With his busy schedule as an actor and a businessman, how does Alden manage to balance all of the feathers in his cap?

"The key is [having] good people behind your back, people you can trust, people you can leave everything to them, na kahit iwan mo sa kanila, mababalik at mababalikan mo pa rin.

“So I think that's the key kaya napagsasabay ko 'yung being a businessman and, at the same time, being an actor," he said.

Lastly, Alden gave advice to millennials wanting to start or invest in a business of their own.

"When it comes to investing money, it's always now. Hindi bukas, hindi 'pag nandito na 'yung ipon. It's always now.

"Think of other ways na mailalagay niya 'yung pera na hindi lang tulog sa bank.

“Iyon 'yung nangyari sa'kin before. I've been earning from showbiz tapos natutulog lang 'yung pera sa banko or nagagastos eventually.

"The key is itapon mo sa business but doon ka sa siguradong mga tao na mapagkakatiwalaan mo talaga.

“Kasi, sa panahon ngayon, super hirap makahanap ng trusted person who will take care of you and at the same time take care of your money and business.

"Itong Concha's, now that we have four branches, we started out as two, kami ni Ate Gemma [Sembrano] and up to this point dalawa lang kami dito.

“Trust 'yung pinakaimportante kasi when it comes to business, more than anything, more than the money, the skills. It's trust.

"'Pag mayroon kang doubt doon, don't enter into it kasi hindi madali ang negosyo.

“Especially doon sa mga bago like when I started, I just took the risk.

“Sometimes the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward and that's what happened with me. I risked everything for this restaurant and here we are now."

Alden and Gemma officially open the newly-renovated Concha's Garden Cafe in Silang, Cavite on May 30.
