LOOK: Michelle Dee partners with local brand to raise autism awareness

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

Before flying to London early last week, Miss World Philippines 2019 Michelle Dee partnered with local clothing brand Bench in order to raise autism awareness in the country.

It was on her Instagram that she announced the great news to the public.

“It's a great milestone for the Autism community as @benchtm and I closed a deal to release a campaign which is autism-focused during Autism Awareness month next year.

“By working hand in hand with the Philippine's largest apparel company hopefully starts the right conversation and becomes a pillar of influence that change is necessary not only within ourselves but within our community as well.”

Michelle's collaboration with the clothing brand is in partnership with the Autism Society of the Philippines, a national, non-profit organization working towards an environment that empowers persons with autism spectrum disorder.

In an interview with GMANetwork.com, Michelle hopes that her platform with the Miss World Philippines Organization could lead to the Philippines being an autism-ok nation.

“I guess my hope is that the Philippines becomes an autism-ok nation,” she says.

“There are so many big Fortune 500 companies now that are taking steps into employing kids on the spectrum and they're actually seeing that autistic kids have great statistical progress in terms of focus and productivity, and that's my hope not only in the Philippines but of the whole world.”
