Things to do on Valentine's Day for singles

Whether you've been single for a long time or you just had your heart broken, you probably dread going out on Valentine's Day. Most events and business establishments will surely have couple-themed promos and decorations, Of course, there will be a lot of couples out on a date.

If you do not want to feel out of place in a sea of lovers on V-day, then you should consider going to events where having a date isn't required.

We listed some fun and interesting events happening on February 14 that you can attend alone or with a few friends. Check them out below.

Film screening

If you love watching local romantic films, then you should go to TBA Studios and Fully Booked's event called "Film Screening at U-View: Stories About Love." They'll be showing I'm Drunk, I Love You at 7 PM and Write About Love at 10 PM on February 14. Tickets are priced at Php 200.

Live comedy show

Instead of crying yourself to sleep (AGAIN), why don't you watch a live comedy show like Tinder Love (Soooo Match)?" It features monologues, sketches, parodies, and satires. Starring in it are comedians John Lapus, Pekto, Kim Idol, Divine Tetay, Tuesday Vargas, and Rey Kilay, with special participation of Kapuso actor Derrick Monasterio. It will be held at the Music Museum on February 14 and 15 at 8 PM. Tickets are priced at PhP 2,000 and PhP 2,500.

Comedy concert

If you want to soothe your aching heart with good music and unlimited laughter, then you should go see a comedy concert like "Laugh in Love!" Have a fun night watching Jerald Napoles, Kim Molina, Negi, and Brenda Mage. It will be held at the CSI Stadia in Lucao District, Dagupan City on February 14, 6 PM. It also doubles as a benefit concert for the Mary Help of Christians Seminary.

Spoken Poetry, Monologues, Open Mic, Acoustic Music, and Live Art

If you have a lot of negative feelings for your ex or almost-boyfriend/girlfriend, then express them through an open mic event on February 14, just like the Ampalaya Monologues Feels-Fest 2020. If you're too shy to do that, you can just simply enjoy the spoken poetry, monologues, acoustic music, live art, and more.

Their event on V-day is called Bittersweet, and will be held at the Commune Café in Poblacion, Makati, from 8 PM to 11 PM. Tickets are priced PhP 400 and comes with a drink. Tickets are limited, so better reserve yours ASAP.

Advocacy-driven event

If you want to show love for the members of the LGBTQ+ community, and also take part in an HIV/AIDS awareness campaign, then spend Valentine's Day in one of Quezon City's Love is Pride, Pride is Love events.

On February 14, they will be having HIV testing and awareness campaign at the Quezon City Hall Grounds from 8 AM to 5 PM. There will also be a block screening of Under My Skin at the PETA Theatre at 3 PM. And, at 5 PM, the Live, Love, and Dance with Pride event will happen at the Quezon City Memorial Circle, where there will be a couples' exchange of vows and a pride dance grand finals.

Suddenly got excited about Valentine's Day? We hope so. Just remember that romantic love isn't the only love there is. So, if you're single on V-day, you can still enjoy it by surrounding yourself with other kinds of love, and spend the special day with people who truly matter to you.
