Major film festivals to stream free content on YouTube

Major film festivals across the globe have collaborated with YouTube to stream online content for free after COVID-19 threat forced scheduled festivals to shut down.

The initiative We Are One: A Global Film Festival will start on May 29 and shall be organized by Tribeca Enterprises.

According to media outlet Newsweek, the digital festival shall run for 10 days and will showcase programming from 20 renowned international film festivals including Berlin International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, and Venice Film Festival. The event will be free to viewers on the WeAreOne YouTube channel.

Other festivals that helped organize the event include Annecy International Animation Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, International Film Festival & Awards Macao (IFFAM), Jerusalem Film Festival, Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI), New York Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival, Tokyo International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, and Tribeca Film Festival.

The festival will benefit the World Health Organisation (WHO), as well as local relief partners in each region.

We Are One: A Global Film Festival will run from May 29 to June 7 on YouTube.com/WeAreOne. Films, documentaries, music, and other content will stream free.

A full schedule will be announced near the streaming date.
