Malabon Zoo and Avilon Zoo need your help to save its animals amid the COVID-19 pandemic

By Racquel Quieta

Many establishments have been forced to momentarily shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

And in the case of animal sanctuaries or zoos, the temporary closure has resulted in depleted funds for maintaining their facilities.

In the long run, if they don't get the financial help that they need, they may not be able to feed the animals anymore.

Such is the case for one of the most popular zoos in Mega Manila, the Avilon Zoo in Rodriguez, Rizal.

Avilon Zoo

Avilon recently called out for help on their Facebook account, so they can continue providing quality animal care and veterinary services for all life under their care.

You can help Avilon Zoo feed its animals by purchasing admission tickets on their website.

These admission tickets will not expire and can be used once quarantine restrictions have been lifted.

By buying admission tickets, you do not only help Avilon Zoo care for their animals, but also the people who are taking care of them.

Malabon Zoo

Malabon Zoo has been around for three decades and can be considered as one of the most popular and iconic zoos in the country.

And like other non-essential businesses, they were forced to cease operations during the enhanced community quarantine.

For two months now, it's owner, Mr. Manny Tangco, has been using his own savings and money borrowed from relatives to feed the animals.

However, since the quarantine period has been extended, his financial resources may soon be tapped out.

This left Mr. Tangco no choice but to ask for help by placing a banner in the Malabon Zoo's entrance.

A concerned citizen shared a photo of the said banner on Facebook and it was quickly shared by netizens.

So, if you want to give cash donations, you may deposit it in Malabon Zoo's bank account:

BPI Checking Acct. No. 4641-0003-32

Acct Name: Malabon Zoo Foundation

And for those who want to send food for the animals, you may coordinate with Mr. Tangco by calling him at 8-3613064.
