Aiai delas Alas gives advice to small business owners during GCQ
Kapuso comedian Aiai delas Alas learns a lot in managing businesses during a pandemic and she shares some tips on how to flourish as a small business owner amid the general community quarantine (GCQ).
In an interview with GMANetwork.com, Aiai revealed that despite temporarily closing her restaurant business in Pasig for safety precautions, she's focused on her pastry business called Martina's which is available for delivery.
"'Yung sa restaurant namin sa Pasig, nagsara muna kami.
"Pero 'yung pandesal business namin ongoing pa rin," she said.
One of the hurdles she has faced in her pastry delivery business was reaching to customers who are far from their place.
"Medyo challenging lang doon, 'yung delivery kasi minsan medyo mahirap lalo na kapag malayo."
But she managed to have the deliveries dropped off fresh on the same day of order.
"Meron kaming rules na same-day delivery na kami. 'Pagkagawa ngayon, idi-deliver na namin.
Instead of putting up a website, her products and delivery information are all found on Instagram so she could reach directly to her customers.
"Sa Martina's lang sa Instagram para hindi magulo," she noted.
Aiai uses her own personal recipes for the pastries and bakes them with the help of her family.
She related, "'Yung pandesal, timpla ko talaga 'yun. Pero 'yung nagmamasa, 'yung anak ko si Sancho, chef kasi siya.
"'Tapos tulong-tulong kaming pamilya nagbabalot. 'Tapos 'yung asawa ko, 'yung naghihiwa.
"Kaming buong pamilya talaga 'yung effort."

While many businesses have decided to temporarily halt services or close down, Aiai wanted to share some tips on what business ventures might work best in this time of quarantine.
"Kasi, hit na hit ngayong 'yung online food selling, so I think sa mga Kapuso natin puwedeng doon muna sila mag-focus ngayon."
Meanwhile, Aiai keeps in touch with her fans through her livestreams, where she also gives out prizes to random viewers.
