Nickelodeon shared photos of their characters to celebrate Pride Month.

Nickelodeon posted on social media some characters from their channel as a way to celebrate the pride month.

The post includes Korra from Avatar: The Legend of Korra, Schwoz Schwartz from Henry Danger, and SpongeBob SquarePants. They wrote, "Celebrating Pride with the LGBTQ+ community and their allies this month and every month."

Nickelodeon's post received an overwhelming response. Their post earned more than 90,000 retweets and more than 255,000 likes as of writing.

According to a report in People.com last 2005, SpongeBob's creator Stephen Hillenburg revealed that the character is actually asexual.

Hillenburg discussed this to address the controversy back in 2005 that the cartoon character and his best friend Patrick Starfish are promoting homosexual lifestyle.

The creator said, "It doesn't have anything to do with what we're trying to do."

He added, "We never intended them to be gay. I consider them to be almost asexual. We're just trying to be funny and this has got nothing to do with the show."
