A high school teacher was found dead with burns in the face in his house in Barangay Ilijis, Bacolod City.
The victim, identified only as “Boy,” 38, was found in his room bloodied.
The suspect is a 24-year-old male college student.
Authorities said he went to the victim’s house and the two reportedly had drinks. This was when the student reportedly asked to borrow money from the teacher.
Jay-r Reyes, chief of the Bacolod City Police Station 7.
The conversation over drinks, as it turned out, did not end well.
Benedick Isidro, the chief tanod of Barangay Alijis, said the student confessed to mauling the teacher before forcing him to drink muriatic acid.
Isidro said the student was still in the house when they arrived and they saw him pulling the victim’s body.
The student reportedly attempted to escape by going to the restroom and going up the ceiling. He reportedly attempted to go up the ceiling three times until the structure got destroyed.
Murder charges have been filed against the student. He did not issue a statement.
Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office in Negros Island Region, said the student is 24 years old.
He could decide on his own. He’s 24. Alam na niya ang tama at mali,” he said.
The teacher’s remains will be made to undergo an autopsy.
