Princess Punzalan tries growing her own produce

By Marah Ruiz

Actress Princess Punzalan joins many other people trying to grow their own produce at home.

She shared that it only started as an experiment with Romaine lettuce.

"I kept hearing that you can really grow Romaine lettuce using the bottom part where the leaves meet. Just for kicks, I put it on top of water and did not fully submerge it for a few days," she wrote on her Instagram.

Fortunately, it seemed that her experiment worked and the lettuce continued to grow.

"Then I saw some growths. After that, I planted it on [the] soil. I am so amazed that it is thriving!" she continued.

Now, Princess wants to try growing her own avocados.

"Next experiment: to see if I can take care of the avocado pit and nourish it to become a plant," she says.

Her friend and fellow actress Maritoni Fernandez left a comment on Princess's post to encourage her.

Maritoni has successfully nurtured an avocado pit and has grown them in small pots in her home. She plans to replant them at her beach house in the future.

"You can sis! I did it. Just be super careful not to cut the root when it first sprouts! Will tag you in my post so you can see the progress," she tells Princess.

Princess took inspiration from Maritoni's gardening experiments.

"I just saw your post, Ton! It is so encouraging! I hope I am able to nourish these living things and make them thrive," she answers.

Princess is now based in the United States and recently talked about her new film Yellow Rose in one of Alice Dixson's vlogs.
