Rhian Ramos tries tie dyeing her old shirts

By Marah Ruiz

For one of her quarantine projects, Kapuso actress Rhian Ramos tried tie dyeing and bleach dyeing some of her old shirts.

Rhian also shared the whole process in a vlog.

Using only bleach, food coloring, water and some rubber bands, she tried to give her clothes new life.

"I think the trick to a successful tie dye or bleach dye is to not be too much of a perfectionist about it. You never really know how it's gonna turn out until you do it. If I were you, don't use really expensive clothes either," Rhian says in the video.

First, she wet the clothes and squeezed out the excess water.

Next, she shaped the clothes into a disc by putting a fork in the middle of the shirt and twirling it.

She then secured the disc shape with some rubber bands.

"If you're anything like me and you're kind of a control freak and you're so tired of making mistakes because you've made so many in your life so you kind of don't want to make more mistakes, this part might cause you a little nervousness or anxiety," she jokes.

"But remember that it doesn't have to be perfect. Just see what you come out with and enjoy the process," Rhian adds.

She then spoons the food coloring mixture over both sides of the shirts before leaving them to dry.

"You know, there really is such a thing as fabric dye. Its just that I didn't know where to get it and I just wanted to do this already. That's why we're using food coloring," Rhian explains.

For the bleach dye job, she dunked the shirt into a solution of water and bleach. She also tried spooning bleach over another shirt.

Was Rhian successful in her little arts and crafts project?
