Nar Cabico cover song


Accompanied by his guitar, Nar Cabico sang the English and Tagalog adaptation of "The Girl from Ipanema."

Singer and comedian Nar Cabico is back with another cover of a classic song.



While playing his guitar in the middle of a field, he sang "The Girl from Ipanema."

Nar sang the song in English and in the Tagalog adaptation by poet, writer and editor Pete Lacaba.

He shared the video on his Instagram account.

"Isa sa mga layunin ko ay pagsamahin ang mga Awiting Banyaga at bihisan ito sa sarili nating Wikang Filipino. Sana ay maipaabot ko sa Pilipinas ang sariwang hangin, at malamlam na klima. Mahal ko kayo," he wrote.

"The Girl from Ipanema" first recorded commercially by Brazilian bossa nova and jazz singer Pery Ribeiro but was popularized by musicians Stan Getz and João Gilberto when they recorded it featuring the vocals of Astud Gilberto.

Its music was written by Antônio Carlos Jobim while its original Portuguese lyrics were written by Vinícius de Moraes.

Mahal ko kayo. * "Garota de Ipanema" ("The Girl from Ipanema") is a Brazilian bossa nova and jazz song. It was a worldwide hit in the mid-1960s and won a Grammy for Record of the Year in 1965. It was written in 1962, with music by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Portuguese lyrics by Vinícius de Moraes. This Tagalog version was written by Ginoong Pete Lacaba.

Nar has previously shared a cover performance of French singer Edith Piaf's "La Vie En Rose", one of his go-to songs for gigs.

He also did a cover performance of of Visayan love song "Usahay" which was taught to him by his parents when he was a child.
