Camille Prats shows fruit and vegetable farm in their Batangas resort

By Jansen Ramos

This COVID-19 pandemic, Camille Prats swears by the value of keeping her family healthy even more by boosting their immunity through eating nutritious food.

Since we did not know if the food we buy in the market are completely safe to consume, her family decided to grow their own food.

They built a fruit and vegetable farm in their resort in Batangas, growing produce like eggplant, guyabano, okra, calamansi, coconut, and mango, as seen in Camille's latest YouTube vlog.

"Actually, napabayaan na 'yung tanim dito pero may mga nakuha pa rin tayong okra. Perfect pang sigang.

"Meron din tayong [tatlong] guyabano, at least meron tayong mauuwi na mga fresh na crops," Camille said.

Through vegetable gardening, Camille learned to differentiate fresh, quality vegetables from the spoiled ones.

"'Yung mga okra pala, ang ganda pala n'ya kapag bagong pitas unlike when you buy it in the supermarket, parang nagda-dark green na s'ya.

"Pero kapag kinuha mo pala s'ya sa halamanan, light green pa 'yung kulay n'ya, so that's nice," she shared.

Growing your own food promotes food safety and saving money, and benefits the environment.

But most importantly, Camille sees this as a good way to easily help her kids--Nathan, Nala, and Nolan--to eat vegetables.

That's why it's fitting for her to host the new edu-tainment program of GMA Public Affairs titled Makulay Ang Buhay that aims to teach kids nutritious eating.

The celebrity mom said in an Facebook post, "Eto na ang tamang panahon to encourage kids that Gulay is our bestfriend! Lalo na sa panahon ngayon, malakas na pangangatawan at resistensiya ang kailangan natin!"

Catch Camille, together with her puppet friends, Benjie and Penpen, in Makulay Ang Buhay, Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and Saturdays at 9:45 a.m. on GMA-7.
