Discovering a new bookstore is always a pleasant surprise. For bibliophiles, spending hours browsing through the pages of a favorite book is always a magical moment.

Although e-books have become a viable option especially at this time, there's just something about physical books that appeal to avid readers.

And if you're planning to replenish your shelves, there are plenty of go-to places for you to grab a new book whether it's a mint copy or in pre-loved condition.

We round up some of the best bookstores in the city to help you in your book quest.

BookFellas

This bibliophile haven carries a wide array of pre-loved titles from different genres. Book lovers can choose from books at reasonable prices. The shop is owned by Dan Gaffud, the same guy behind the bargain bookshop, Bookay-ukay. If you're lucky, you might stumble on a rare find for as low as P10.

Books and coffee are a match made in heaven. This spot is a joint project of Coffee Project and Fully Booked to cater to book lovers of all ages. Its sunlit atrium makes it an ideal spot to read or just simply hanging out with friends. Guests will marvel at the piles of books in every nook and corner.

Those hunting for books penned by local authors are more than welcome to visit this place. Bibliophiles can score literary and scholarly reading materials published by the University of the Philippines (UP). Customers can take a seat to browse through their finds.

JERVS Pocketbooks Store

This independent bookshop is right smack in the middle of the busy EDSA traffic. Bibliophiles can get their hands on dozens of pre-loved books ranging from romance pocketbooks to history books to downright classics, and many more. The items are reasonably priced as well so you might end up taking home more than one book after the visit.

It's also home to this cozy bookshop that houses a wide selection of tomes on various topics such as history, politics, economics, and philosophy, among others. This second-hand bookstore is already a landmark in busy Manila. Books from Underground sells an eclectic mix of books across all genres. This book hub sports a fresh look as part of the newly dressed Lagusnilad Underpass, which reopened in August after months of renovation work.
