Different ways to celebrate Valentine's Day at home

By Bianca Geli

Valentine's Day is less than a month away but we're all still living in a pandemic. While we're trying to contain the spread of the coronavirus, there's no reason to skip spreading love this season of romance--even if it means celebrating V-day in a non-traditional way while we adapt to unprecedented times.

GMA Lifestyle compiled a list of cheesy but fun ways to give love this February 14th--at home.

1. Breakfast in bed

Start your day right with an early feast made from the heart. Simple gestures like a cozy breakfast in bed becomes extra special when you take it to another level of sweetness. Prepare heart-shaped breakfast such as pancakes or waffles served on a cute tray.

2. Have an indoor picnic

Go all out and turn your dining or living room into a picnic area of love. Make sure to get a picnic blanket and pack a basket with your loved one's fave dishes and snacks.

3. Watch a movie marathon

A movie is perfect for capping off a Friday night. But since it's Valentine's Day, binge-watch trilogies and film franchises with your partner and splurge on popcorn to give your night a movie theater vibe.

4. Mix the perfect cocktail

While bars are still under strict restrictions, this can be the perfect time for you to show off your bartending skills and come up with your own cocktail drink at home. Don't fret if you're not into alcohol because there are loads of non-alcoholic or mocktail drinks you can concoct from your own kitchen just by using juices, syrups, and sparkling wine.

5. Quiz night

It's always fun and surprising to learn new things about your partner. Bring out your competitive side and see if you can beat your partner in trivia games. You can also organize a virtual game night and team up against other couples.

6. Try cooking a new dish

Dining out is still not like how it used to. To avoid the hassle of eating at a restaurant while social distancing, try out a new recipe at home. You can also tweak your favorite dishes with new ingredients inspired by your favorite restaurant recipes.

7. Pamper yourself

If you miss having a self-care day at the spa, treat yourself and your partner with a pampering at home. Take turns giving each other massages using stress-relieving essential oils and chill out with hydrating face masks for a relaxed, Valentine's Day glow.

8. A day of firsts

Since this Valentine's Day is going to be like no other, there's plenty of reasons to make your love lockdown extra special by trying out things together for the first time. Well, all the holidays you've spent during the pandemic felt brand new and different. Make Valentine's Day extra unforgettable by making it a day of firsts!

Aside from trying out new recipes and going on a virtual game night, you can also buy some art supplies and create DIY cards or love letters for each other to show how your love has grown during quarantine. If you feeling creative, build a Lego project, a jigsaw puzzle, or an art piece together.

9. Dress up

After ignoring your wardrobe for so many months, it would definitely be nice to finally get out of your pajamas and house clothes and into your date outfits once again. Pretend you're going out on a fancy date night and get glammed up for a candle-lit dinner.

10. Go on a drive

Pick a convenient time of the day when there are no traffic jams and go on a relaxing drive with your loved one and maybe order food for takeaway, too, while you're out.
