Pera Paraan

Here are some love stories that blossomed into profitable businesses

From relationship partners to business partners, many couples have become allies in their professions as well. This Kapuso Month, Pera Paraan takes a look at some couples who have turned their relationship to another level by collaborating in businesses as well.

Take 30-year-old Liz for example, who is working extra hard to save money so she can visit her husband who is currently working in New Zealand.

“'Yung business ko po ngayon is more on fabrics...curtains, comforters,” Liz tells Pera Paraan host, Susan Enriquez.

What's good about her business is she doesn't need to shell out a lot of cash since she only buys products after a confirmed order. This year, Liz earned around P48,000 in just one week. Her products are mainly bedsheets, comforters, curtains, and a lot more.

Meanwhile, husband and wife Buddy and Josephine of VS & F Catering Services started out from a simple food business delivering cooked lunch packs to office workers.

"More than 35 years ago 'yung parents ko nagsimula sila sa food orders. Balot balot na pagkain na dini-deliver nila sa mga empleyado ng mga malls, ng bangko. 'Yung mommy ko 'yung namamalengke tapos 'yung father ko 'yung nag-de-deliver. Tapos naging canteen, hanggang sa meron ng mga regular customers at pinasok na nila 'yung catering business," said Joyce Abesamis, second generation owner of VS & F Catering Services

Their food delivery business started from a budget of P15,000 but it has now grown into a catering service that can accommodate up to 5,000 to 10,000 people for both private and corporate events.

Now that there's an ongoing pandemic, VS & F has adapted to the times by bringing good food and quality dining to customers staying at home. They offer food set packages with dishes like mushroom truffle pasta, roast pork loin, potato gratin, paella mixta, garlic beef salpicao, and gambas al ajillo.

Joyce added, "Wala kasing substitute sa hard work kaya talagang pinagigihan nila, naging hands-on sila, para mapalaki nila 'yung negosyo."

On the other hand, for husband and wife Murielle and Denis of Cupbomb Chocolate Store, combining sweetness with a little surprise is the secret to their business's success.

Murielle got the business idea from a trending breakable chocolate heart with surprise treats inside. Now, they've expanded to selling cup bombs. They sell chocolate balls with marshmallows inside that fit inside mugs and melts in hot water or hot milk. The cup bombs are priced between P65 to P75 while their chocolate heartbreak surprise costs around P200 to P319.

Their initial business investment was P5,000 but they now earn about P25,000 every week.

Watch more business-savvy couples share their love stories and tips in Pera Paraan.
