Kiefer Ravena admits he is 'missing basketball too much'

By Aedrianne Acar

It seems Kiefer Ravena couldn't hide his frustration on how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected us all, especially athletes like him.

The Philippines is currently facing an uphill battle with the rising number of COVID-19 infections.

On Wednesday, April 7, the country recorded 6,414 new cases, with the total number of COVID-19 patients reaching 819,164.

Kiefer, who plays guard for the NLEX Road Warriors in the PBA, Asia's first professional league, took to Twitter to share his thoughts about the current situation and how much he misses playing on the court.

He posted, “Missing Basketball too much. Suspension, play a conference, pandemic, play in a bubble, pandemic.”

But he also understands that there are a lot more important things to deal with right now.

Kiefer explained, “There are bigger things right in front of us that's needed to be taken care of. Safety of our people, safety of our HCW and Frontliners. So i'm praying hard for this to happen and that the people in charge make the right decisions for the good of the people.”

The former Ateneo Blue Eagles star player also looked back to the time before the pandemic when they can play outside.

“Just can't help but reminisce about something that is “normal” to us, in the streets, in school, in the park, in the village etc..

“Hoping this will be over soon and Praying for each and everyone of us.”

Several athletes also reacted to Kiefer's post, including UP Fighting Maroons player Kobe Paras and Kevin Alas.
