Any news about the Eraserheads is always guaranteed to get music fans talking.
Recently, enigmatic ex-front man Ely Buendia drew flak after an old podcast interview of him frankly saying that the band members were “never friends” resurfaced.
Ely's claim was backed up by drummer Raymund Marasigan on the “Offstage Hang” podcast, saying, “It's not a secret that we're not close. In this age of social media, if you check for the past 10 years, 20 years, our feeds as individuals, you will easily see who we were hanging out with.”
Now, the seminal '90s band responsible for the hits “Ligaya,” “Alapaap,” “With A Smile,” and “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” to name a few, is making some noise again.
Fans though will be more thrilled than heartbroken as they can add more to their growing Eraserheads collection.
Offshore Music, the record label co-founded by Ely, has announced that it will be releasing the Eraserheads' 2014 songs “1995” and “Sabado” on vinyl.
The record will come in the form of a 12-inch vinyl and will include remixes by Lustbass and Diego Mapa a.k.a. DMAPS.
“Sabado” and “1995” were the first songs recorded and released by the band since their controversial breakup in 2002.
Both songs appeared on a CD and were made available as an insert of Esquire Philippines magazine in September 2014.
As for the vinyl, no definite release date has been mentioned as of the moment.
Offshore Music is also the same label that released the remastered edition of the Eraserheads' groundbreaking 1993 debut album Ultraelectromagneticpop! on vinyl in 2018 and the book Alternate Endings: The Making of The Final Set and the Unmaking of an Era that chronicles the band's sellout reunion concert on March 7, 2009.
