Ruru Madrid opens YouTube channel to get closer to fans

By Ron Lim

You may get to see him regularly on Kapuso television shows, but actor Ruru Madrid wants you to know the real him on his newly-opened YouTube channel.

In the 20-minute long video, the Lolong star talked about why he opened a YouTube channel and started vlogging, cooked adobo for the very first time, and answered a few fan questions.

Right off the bat, Ruru said that he wanted subscribers to his YouTube channel to see the real him, “simpleng tao, isang tao na mapagmahal, isang taong handang ibigay ang lahat para sa kaniyang mga mahal sa buhay, at taong mataas ang pangarap.”

As an opening activity, Ruru set out to cook chicken adobo, despite having no extensive cooking experience at all. This is immediately evident three minutes into the video, when the pot he was using to cook in caught fire.

After overcoming that mishap and getting a new pan, Ruru started cooking the chicken adobo, while also sharing that another reason he opened a YouTube channel was to also experience new things.

Ruru also revealed how he was the only one among his family that couldn't cook, and that his father and all his siblings had a dish that was their specialty. The video even briefly became a family affair, as his uncle Bon joined in to provide some help with the cooking.

After the chicken adobo was settled, Ruru went on to answer a few fan questions.

When asked about his favorite quarantine activity, he answered cooking. As to whether he is an introvert or an extrovert, Ruru opened up.

“Sa totoo lang guys, introvert talaga ako. I'm just trying na maging outgoing pero sa totoong buhay introvert talaga ako,” he replied.

Ruru also expressed an interest in becoming a chef if he had not become a celebrity, saying he wanted to bring smiles to people's faces.

Finally, he answered two more questions that were spicier compared to the earlier ones. When asked about the favorite part of his body, he said his eyes.

To the question of “Lights on or lights off?”
