Alfred Vargas unearths his elementary picture

By Aaron Brennt Eusebio

Actor and politician Alfred Vargas found his elementary pictures that was taken in 1989 when he was still studying at Ateneo Grade School.

Long before becoming an actor and a politician, Alfred was known as Alfie, who was a member of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.

"Nostalgia conquers my heart looking at old photos like this, remembering those simple days of play, laughter, [and] discovery," he wrote in the caption.

"'Laging handa. Gawin ang makakaya!' This was always our battle cry every Wednesday, our co-curricular activity day. As far as I can remember, this was the start of the inculcation of the concept of SERVICE. The principle of being a 'MAN FOR OTHERS.'"

Alfred added that he once dreamed of becoming a lawyer like her late mother, Atty. Susana Dumlao-Vargas.

"I recall dreaming to be a lawyer like my mother this time in my life. She would wake up at 4am every day, get ready for work, prepare our lunch boxes, then study her notes for the day (which she also studies the night before). She was a diligent and respected lawyer in government.

"I so wanted to be like her as she was one of the few major influences of my life. It was only years after when I discovered my true love for acting & public service."

Alfred is currently part in GMA Afternoon Prime's family-drama series AraBella starring Shayne Sava, Althea Ablan, and Camille Prats.

AraBella airs Mondays to Fridays, 3:20 p.m. after Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap.
