Marian Rivera named Ambassador for Women and Children with Disabilities

She rules the airwaves, has starred in countless movies and has graced the covers of the most prestigious magazines.

Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera is definitely at the top of her game, but beneath the glitz and glamor is her good heart.

On March 31, the award-winning actress was named Ambassador for Women and Children with Disabilities. Marian gave a speech at a forum in the House of Representatives. See the exclusive photos here.

The Carmela star expressed her gratitude for being chosen to take on the huge responsibility. She also shared that the disabled have a special place in her heart, as she has portrayed a character with a disability. Throughout the 140 episodes of Darna, Marian had to use crutches as Narda.

The Kapuso Primetime Queen said in her speech, “Hindi ko po lubos maisip na ina-acting ko lang iyon sa isang araw, aaminin ko po na nahihirapan talaga ako.”

She added, “So ngayon po na nakikinig ako sa inyo, ano pa kaya ‘yung mga totoong hinaharap ito araw-araw o kaya pang-habambuhay? Napakahirap.”

As an ambassador, Marian does not want to make promises, but she stated that she is willing to help out in any way she can. Right now, it is her priority to reach out to the government and fight for the rights of women and the disabled.
