Gabbi Garcia advocates for LGBTQIA+ students on her IG account

By Ron Lim

Gabbi Garcia is showing her support for the LGBTQIA+ community this Pride Month as she helps raise money for LGBTQIA+ students on her Instagram account.

In one of her more recent posts, Gabbi put up a couple of pictures of herself, one of which has her carrying a rainbow tote bag. In the caption to the post, Gabbi called on her followers to “champion inclusivity and embrace diversity.”

More than just a call, however, Gabbi shared that purchases of limited edition toothpaste and mouthwash from Colgate would help support the education of LGBTQIA+ students through the Rainbow Youth Academy.

Gabbi is just one of the many celebrities that are expressing their support for the LGBTQIA+ community this Pride Month. Miss Universe Philippines Michelle Dee just recently attended a Pride event at the United States embassy along with RuPaul's Drag Race Philippines cast members Precious Paula Nicole, Viñas Deluxe, Brigiding, Lady Morgana, and Kaladkaren.

Michelle has also raised funds for the LGBTQIA+ community before by promoting a special edition T-shirt by the brand COS during Pride Month last year. All of the profits of the sales were donated to specific LGBTQIA+ organizations. In the caption to the post, Michelle asked her followers to check out the shirts that are “in support of the community we all should love.”

Former Miss Universe Catriona Gray is also an outspoken ally of the community, with the Miss Universe organization itself calling her “part of its LGBTQIA+ history.” Catriona is currently in Singapore to talk at an HIV forum where she will be presenting LoveYourself Philippines “initiatives and collaboration to empower the HIV community” as part of the panelists of the session “Exploring Opportunities in Reducing Stigma & Discrimination.”
