Marian Rivera wins Media Magnet of the Year at popular celebrity awards

All eyes were on Marian Rivera at the press launch of a popular celebrity award-giving body last June 4 at Amber Ultra Lounge, Fort Strip.
Hosted by radio DJ Sam Oh, the event unveiled Yahoo! Celebrity Awards’ nominees for this year. The said awards honor celebrities from the fields of movies, music, radio and television who are voted into top ranks by their fans from across the world.
The event began with opening remarks from Kate Delos Reyes, Country Manager and Country Editor of Yahoo! Philippines and Mike Constantino, Country Sales Director.
They mentioned that this year, the Yahoo! Celebrity Awards includes 140 nominees across 128 categories, with ten new categories.
An audio-visual presentation of last year’s awards night highlights was shown. Big winners from last year were Kapuso stars Ryzza Mae Dizon, Elmo Magalona, Julie Anne San Jose and Marian Rivera, who was named Celebrity of the Year, the award giving body’s top award.
This was followed by a performance by Kapuso actress Saab Magalona’s band, Cheats. Her band is also nominated for Emerging Band of the Year category.
The highlight of the night was the special awarding of the Media Magnet of the Year award, which recognizes the most popular and most talked about artist in the entertainment industry. The recipient of the award was no less than the one and only woman of the hour, Marian Rivera.
The Kapuso Primetime Queen ruled the first half of 2014 with her comeback project, Carmela along with more than a handful of magazine covers and new endorsements. Marian turns it even a notch further as she shows a side of her that we’ve never seen before in her upcoming dance show, Marian.
Marian dazzled in a classy black and gold maxi dress as she smiled for the cameras. The stunning actress posted a photo of this memorable moment in her Instagram account.
She was also the first celebrity to be interviewed at the Yahoo! Bus.
This year, Marian is nominated in five categories, namely Celebrity of the Year, Celebrity Couple of the Year (with Dingdong Dantes), Actress of the Year, Fan Club of the Year (DongYanatics, fans of the Dingdong Dantes-Marian Rivera loveteam) and Teleserye of the Year (for Carmela).
Kapuso stars who also graced the event were Christian Bautista, who is nominated for Male Performer of the Year and Rocco Nacino, who is nominated for Male Emerging Star of the Year. Cute couple, Bea Binene and Jake Vargas, who are nominated for Celebrity Couple also arrived at the press launch.
