A popular celebrity award-giving body announced its nominees for this year. GMA Network garnered nominations in 21 out of 28 categories. 

 

The Yahoo Celebrity Awards allows users to vote for their favorite stars on ph.celebrity.yahoo.com and see them up-close during the glitzy and glamorous awards night on July 18.

 

Among the Kapuso nominees are Rocco Nacino and Kristoffer Martin, who are in the running for the Male Emerging Star category.

 

Rocco Nacino started out as a contestant in the 5th season of StarStruck. He finished as 2nd Prince. After StarStruck, he appeared in supporting roles in several drama series. He became Lovi Poe’s leading man in Yesterday’s Bride, followed by the primetime series, Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas. He has also starred in GMA News TV series, Bayan Ko and Titser. 

 

He received accolades from the 28th PMPC Star Awards and the 9th Golden Screen Awards for his performance in the film, Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa. His performance in Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir also received nominations from prestigious award-giving bodies.

 

Kristoffer Martin became a Kapuso star in 2010, where he became one of the new breed of rising actors. He appeared in drama shows like Endless Love, Tween Hearts and Munting Heredera. He played a supporting yet pivotal role in Pahiram ng Sandali. He moved to leading man territory in Kakambal ni Eliana, where he was paired with Kim Rodriguez and in Kahit Nasaan Ka Man with Julie Anne San Jose. He reunited with Kim Rodriguez in Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw.

 

The 19 year-old is an award-winning actor in his own right, receiving the German Moreno Youth Achievement award at the FAMAS in 2012. His performance in the independent film, Oros won him the Best Actor in a Supporting Role award at the 10th Golden Screen Awards and an Honorable Mention for Best Supporting Actor at the 16th Long Island Film Expo in New York.

Kapuso actresses Louise delos Reyes and Janine Gutierrez, are also both nominated as Female Emerging Star.

 

Louise delos Reyes started out as a commercial model. She got her first film break when she starred as Mindy in Peque Gallaga's independent film, Agaton and Mindy. Her performance earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the PMPC Star Awards.

 

Louise’s lucky streak continued in television. From the bit roles she used to play, she eventually clinched supporting roles in GMA series like Pilyang Kerubin and Tween Hearts. She then took on the title role of Alakdana, where she was paired with Alden Richards. The DenLou love team starred in two more GMA primetime dramas, One True Love and Mundo Mo’y Akin. She currently stars as Perlas and Alona in Kambal Sirena.

 

Showbiz is in Janine Gutierrez’s blood. She's the daughter of Lotlot de Leon and Ramon Christopher Gutierrez. Starting out as a host in Party Pilipinas, Janine went on to appear in shows like My Beloved, Makapiling Kang Muli and Together Forever. 

 

She got her biggest break when she starred in the top-rated GMA Afternoon Prime series, Villa Quintana with Elmo Magalona. The love team proved to be successful and they now have a huge following. Janine’s hosting skills also shine through in Sunday All Stars.
