Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol is slowly inching closer to the Miss World crown as she makes it to the Top 25 of one of the pageant's preliminary challenges.

In one of the more recent posts on the Miss World Philippines Instagram account, the organization revealed that Gwendolyne has made it to the Top 25 of the Miss World Head to Head Challenge, which was determined by speeches delivered by the candidates as well as videos they submitted regarding the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

Aside from Gwendolyne, making up the rest of the Top 25 are the candidates from Brazil, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, the United States, Botswana, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Belgium, England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Spain, Wales, Australia, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Gwendolyne's Top 25 placement comes after she caught attention during the Miss World opening ceremonies with her national costume inspired by authentic Ilonggo textiles and that she explained represents the “Filipina's craft spirit of dignity, growth, and joy”.

The Head to Head Challenge is just one of the preliminary challenges Gwendolyne has to face on her journey to win the Miss World crown. Earlier today, Gwendolyne had also shared photos of her wearing a salmon pink athletic outfit that she wore for the qualifying round of the Miss World pageant's Sports Challenge, which seeks to determine who is the “fittest of them all.” The Sports Challenge was introduced to the Miss World pageant back in 2003 and is a preliminary event that automatically enters its winner into the pageant's semi-finals.

Before that, Gwendolyne wore a red ensemble while presenting her Beauty With a Purpose advocacy to the Miss World selection committee.

Gwendolyne had earlier used her Instagram account to share her advocacy video explaining why quality education is important to her and included her call for collective action to address this through “the implementation of appropriate technology, increased investment, and sound policies.”

The Miss World finals is set to happen on March 9, 2024 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, India. Gwendolyne was initially set to compete in the Miss World pageant back in December 16, 2023 when it was first scheduled at the ICC Delhi India, but the finals were moved due to elections that were happening in India at the time.
