'Pinakamahirap ang magpatawa' - Jackie Rice

Starstruck alumna Jackie Rice has made her mark as one of the most prolific kontrabida actress in showbiz today. Who can forget her gripping portrayal of Gina in the hit Afternoon Prime series Innamorata? She made the lead character’s life, Esperanza, miserable.
At present, Jackie is regularly scene in the longest running gag show of the Philippines, Bubble Gang. She joins the multi-talented cast composed of Michael V, Ruffa Mae Quinto, Paolo Contis and Antonio Aquitania to name a few.
GMANetwork.com had a chance to interview the stunning actress and we asked what is it like being part of a popular and iconic show like Bubble Gang.
“Masaya. Actually dati rin akong viewer and fan ng Bubble Gang, [and] until now naman. [Ang] makatrabaho sila, sobrang malaking karangalan na, kasi dito naabutan ko pa sina Kuya Ogie, si Maureen Larrazabal, si Francine Prieto. Dati nanonood lang ako tapos naging part na ako, [kaya] sobrang saya ko na.”
Moreover, Jackie is delighted that while working, she learns a lot from the wonderful cast of the gag show and the mood is light every taping day.
“Tapos may natutunan pa ko from them. Alam mo 'yun? Ang saya-saya, hindi ko maexplain kasi alam mo 'yun, ito 'yung parang bahay ko na, parang naglalaro lang kami. Parang hindi kami nagtratrabaho at saka 'yung mga katrabaho ko dito like si Kuya Bitoy, Paolo Contis, hindi mo mararamdaman na mas mataas sila sa iyo. So masaya kasi, alam mo 'yung idol mo, nakakatrabaho mo”.
There is no denying that Jackie is a versatile actress, but the Bubble Gang mainstay admits that she finds it harder to do comedy projects than drama shows. In addition, the actress believes that the Filipino audience is hard to please and to make them laugh is an achievement by itself.
“Alam mo, sa buhay nating mga Pilipino, 'di ba lalo nasa Pilipinas tayo, parang masyado ng mabigat eh, so mahirap magpatawa 'di ba?”
She added, “Sa araw-araw na routine natin sa buhay, 'yun at 'yung problema darating. Well kaya namang solusyunan, kasi 'yun tayo at saka ang mga Pilipino, sobrang ang taas ng pag-asa natin sa bawat isa at sa sarili natin.
"Pinakamahirap ang magpatawa, kasi hindi mo alam kung ano ang pinagdadaanan nun. Pero kahit seconds lang 'yan, single na segundo, 'di ba [ang] mapatawa mo sila, malaking bagay na ‘yun, lalo na sa sitwasyon natin ngayon”.
