Cheers to birthday girl, Barbie Forteza!

She was only 12 years old when we first saw her angelic face on television. Now that she is 17, Barbie Forteza has definitely come a long way. With what she has achieved, she will definitely have an even brighter future ahead of her.
She started out as Rhian Ramos’ younger version in Stairway to Heaven. Her acting skills were immediately noticed and soon after, she appeared in First Time and Pilyang Kerubin.
This was followed by the phenomenal Tween Hearts, which catapulted Barbie to fame, especially among the teenage audience. Her extraordinary popularity landed her a lead role on the 2011 GMA Afternoon Prime series, Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin.
Barbie’s star shone even brighter when she was given her first leading role in primetime via Paroa: Ang Kuwento ni Mariposa, where she was paired with Derrick Monasterio. Ruru Madrid and Miguel Tanfelix were also her leading men in the series.
Her team-up with Derrick Monasterio garnered a huge following. They reunited in another GMA Telebabad series, Anna KareNina. Barbie’s best friends, Joyce Ching and Krystal Reyes were also part of the series.
Now, Barbie is definitely in full bloom as she shares the title role with Thea Tolentino in GMA Afternoon Prime series, The Half Sisters. This marks Barbie’s third team-up with Derrick Monasterio and first team-up with Andre Paras.
Besides her television work, Barbie is also set to star in the upcoming Cinemalaya film, Mariquina. Outside of showbiz, the actress also has different advocacies. Last year, she was named spokesperson of Haribon Foundation. She also spent her 16th birthday with kids from Philippine Children’s Hospital. She does this every year.
She elaborated, “Gusto ko sana, ‘yun ‘yung gawin ko every year. Last year, tuwang tuwa talaga ‘yung mga bata, na kahit mayroon silang sakit, na-appreciate nila, na feeling ko kahit sa dalawang oras na ‘yun, nakalimutan talaga nila kung ano ang mayroon sila.”
