Online personality Emman Atienza shared her struggles, including her childhood traumas. She was recently involved in the Guess the Bill? challenge controversy on TikTok.
Known as Kuya Kim Atienza's daughter(), Emman bravely talked about her healing journey in an interview on Toni Talks.
Childhood traumas
She said that her childhood played a significant part in her traumas. The TikTok sensation shared that she was physically and verbally abused by her nanny.
"She'd always insult me and call me stupid," she shared.
At such a young age, she had paranoid beliefs, like she could not bear to be alone in a room. She admitted that she only got over her trauma when she was 14.
Emman only started to heal when she sought professional help. Her parents also fully found out what happened when she was already attending therapy.
Fallbacks
After overcoming her childhood traumas, she admitted that her recent controversy triggered her wounds.
She revealed that she cried for days and questioned herself.
"I have done so much to heal from my past experiences. I had done so much to remind myself how I am a good person. I deserve good karma that's coming towards me now these past few months, and that kind of made me question myself," she said.
She added, "Like maybe I am a bad person, maybe I don't deserve to be here."
Self-love
However, Emman said that when she started questioning herself again, she gave herself a pep talk out loud.
She told herself she was worthy and needed to break the cycle of constantly letting other people bring her down. Then, she admitted she felt better.
TikTok also helped her to overcome her struggles. She said, "I think I've just had a newfound love for life and myself. I think some of it is rooted from therapy, new friends, new environment, some of it also rooted from TikTok."
"When I started doing TikTok, I realized that people actually want to hear what I have to say. They want to hear about me, they're interested in me. They actually care about me; it helped me realize the value and the things I can contribute to this world," she explained.
Her father, Kuya Kim, also gave her advice.
"Don't let it affect you; you cannot control that. What you can control is how you digest and manage it. So, do what you can to make sure it doesn't get to you, and after a while, it will pass," he said.
At the end of the interview, she was asked what she had learned about herself.
She quickly answered, "I am loving, loud, bubbly, happy, outgoing, and I am unapologetically myself."
"I think what's healing me is finding things that I love. I think love is the only thing stronger than hate," she added.
