Frances Makil Ignacio on working with Gloria Romero

Versatile actress Frances Makil-Ignacio go the chance to work with the late showbiz icon Gloria Romero in the award-winning fantasy series 'Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko.'

The tributes for the Queen of Philippine Cinema Gloria Romero continue to pour in from fellow celebrities, who had the honor of working with the legendary actress.

One of Miss Gloria's former fellow cast members in Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko, Frances Makil-Ignacio took to Instagram to remember the days she spent with Lola Goreng.

Frances posted a carousel of behind-the-scene photos with the late seasoned actress and wrote in the captions, “Worked with you first in Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan, tita Glo, but the 2... 3 years we spent on the set of DKNLK was truly a gift. Our tent conversations about love, life, death and God will always be part of my memory. In Sa Dulo, your war stories and memories of your mother taking all of you to safety in the middle of the night with a tiny gasera as your only source of light, brought me back to a time I was lucky enough not to have experienced first hand.”

She then described Lola Gloria as a person with a “truly beautiful soul.”

“Thank you for the love, friendship and opportunity to spend that time with you, a truly beautiful soul. Go with God. I, along with so many, celebrate your life. I love you.”

Meanwhile, the daughter of Gloria, Maritess Gutierrez credits Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko for giving her mom the opportunity to reach a wider audience.

She said in an interview, “Yung mga bata nga because of GMA, nabigyan siya ng [Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko], so ang lawak ng age gaps ng fans ni Mama--from matanda to children. So I think, my mom was able to deliver and gave her self until the last, up to her 70th year. Imagine, hanggang bata, naabutan pa nila si mama,”

Gloria Romero or Gloria Anne Borrego Galla Gutierrez in real life passed away last January 25 at the age of 91.
