The stage is set for the reopening of the Metropolitan Theater or MET.
Last week, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno shared a few pictures taken inside the theater to show the public the progress of the renovation and rehabilitation works being done inside the structure.
Now, it's the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) turn to give a sneak peek of what to expect from the iconic yet long-neglected theater when it opens.
“The inauguration of the new Met is the culmination of a long arduous journey. This has been made possible by the determinated effort of a long line of individuals who share a common dream to bring back to life one of our nation's cultural treasures,” said NCCA chairman Arsenio “Nick” Lizaso.
The MET is slated to host the quincentennial evening show to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Victory at Mactan on April 27, 2021.
It will mark the MET's first show after shutting down operations for good in 1996.
The NCCA and Manila are also discussing a partnership to celebrate the 450th anniversary of the city this coming June.
