Get to know David Alaba, half-Pinoy football star in Europe

Spanish football club Real Madrid landed their first summer signing in Austrian national David Alaba.
He is set to join the Spanish football giants on a free-transfer agreement from German club Bayern Munich.
David has signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid and he will officially join the team after the UEFA Euro 2020.
Before leaving Bayern Munich, he has won 10 Bundesliga titles, two Champions Leagues, and six German Cups.
This European champion is actually half-Filipino. His mom is a Visayan named Gina, a former beauty queen back in the '80s who migrated to Austria to work as a nurse.
His father George is a Nigerian who moved to Vienna to study and soon become the first black guard soldier in the Austrian army.
David is in touch with his roots while also paying tribute to the country where he was born and raised.
His cleats always feature images of the flags of Austria, Nigeria, and the Philippines.
The Philippine Football Federation actually wrote to David twice to invite him to join the Philippine Men's Football team. However, he chose to represent Austria which he calls home.
