On August 18, Filipino Olympians Hidilyn Diaz, Nesthy Petecio, Carlo Paalam, and Eumir Marcial, received the rewards that were promised to them after they won medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The Pinoy medalists graced the turnover ceremonies for their new Tagaytay real estate properties from the Philippine Olympic Committee, and new vehicles from United Asia Automotive Group Inc.
Hidilyn, who gave the Philippines its first gold medal, has been in the news lately, as she has been attending various turnover ceremonies for the "rewards" and pledges from different donors, including her P14M condo unit in Eastwood, Quezon City
Aside from getting the keys to her 2-story home in Tagaytay City, Hidilyn also received her brand new van.
In the same event, Pinoy boxers Nesthy, Carlo, and Eumir visited the lots, where their future homes will be constructed.
Nesthy and Carlo, both silver medalists, also saw for the first time their brand new vehicles--an SUV for Nesthy and an MPV for Carlo. Eumir, who capped off his Olympic bid with a bronze medal, received a cash reward from the car donor.
Have a look at the photos that capture the emotional and joyous moments in the turnover ceremonies that were held in honor of our decorated athletes:
Before their day started, the Pinoy athletes, together with their own teams, the contingent from the Philippine Olympic Committee, and the media, attended a thanksgiving mass at Our Lady of St. Lourdes Parish in Tagaytay.
While hearing mass, Hidilyn couldn't hold back her tears. At one point, she had to wipe her eyes from under her face shield.
The three vehicles meant for Carlo Paalam, Nesthy Petecio, and Hidilyn Diaz were lined up for everyone to see and take photographs and videos of.
A speechless Carlo received his own multi-purpose vehicle, a Foton Gratour MPV, which can double as a cargo transporter. Sen. Francis Tolentino looked on with pride.
An overjoyed Nesthy can't believe that her "gift," a Chery Tiggo SUV, came with her name on it. Eumir was quick to capture the candid moment in his smartphone.
Even if she was wearing a face mask, you know that Nesthy was smiling from ear to ear when she saw her brand new vehicle.
Instead of a car, Eumir received a cash reward of P300,000 from United Asia Automotive Group Inc., the same donor that gave free cars to the Pinoy gold and silver medalists.
Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino led the groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the future homes of the Pinoy boxers.
The boxers proudly held up photos of their future homes. Each of them would get a single-detached, two-bedroom (with attic) home worth P5 million in Barangay San Jose, Tagaytay City.
The Olympic weightlifting champion came with her parents to formally receive her reward from POC, a new two-story home in Tagaytay City. On the same day, she also received her 13-seater Foton Transvan.
