After being hounded by a series of controversies, Gretchen Barretto finally surfaced and Showbiz Central was there for the exclusive interview. Gretchen and long-time partner, businessman Antonio “Tony Boy” Cojuangco, Jr. left for the United States last June 25. This prompted more intrigues about the status of their relationship, particularly following the “Kiss Scandal” with John Estrada. But their representatives said that the businessman had a throat problem and had to be operated on. His condition might lead to throat cancer if it wasn’t immediately addressed. Gretchen was said to have even sent text messages to her friends asking for prayers for Tony Boy. Last Thursday, July 5, the couple returned to Manila from San Francisco after a successful operation. “He’s okay, we’re home. We’re happy to be home.” While seemingly uncomfortable in front of the cameras, Gretchen added, “He’s okay now, so salamat sa lahat ng mga prayers niyo…Pagod lang talaga kami. We’ll let you know kung ano ang mga susunod (na mangyayari), but right now we need some sleep and food.” As to what happened between her and John Estrada, Gretchen only had this to say: “I’m better now.
