Benjamin Alves fulfills dream of working with Heart Evangelista

By BEA RODRIGUEZ

“You know when I was told na [I’ll] be working with Heart [Evangelista], sabi ko ‘Wow!’ Every Kapuso artist has a list, and she’s one of the top in my list to work with. When they told me na she’s going to be my sister, medyo masakit ‘yon (laughs),” Kapuso charmer Benjamin Alves admitted in an interview with GMANetwork.com pertaining to his role in the upcoming romantic melodrama, Beautiful Strangers.

Another encounter was with Asia’s Pop Sweetheart Julie Anne San Jose in Maynila, “Last time when I found out I was working with Julie, they said, ‘You’re working with Julie, you’re partners with her, but you’re the Kuya.”

“Medyo, you know, it’s almost there, but not quite there,” he felt dismayed yet it was the relationship off-cam that he enjoyed the most.

He feels delighted to work with Heart since he has known her as a kid, “[She’s] someone that you know from the showbiz industry, especially in our generation. Heart’s on top so to be able to work with her, to see her every day on the set, and how she works as well as how she works with others, especially the crew [ay] nakakatuwa. That’s Mrs. Escudero, but you don’t feel that.”

The Kapuso actor revealed the plot of the upcoming series, “Ako ang kapatid ni Heart, half-brother [niya ako] tapos [I’ll] fall in love with Lovi [Poe] pero Lovi has a past with Rocco [Nacino] and Rocco is in love with my sister. Wala pa ‘yung aspect ng parents ko na si Tito Boyet [Christopher de Leon] and Ms. Dina Bonnevie. Talagang ‘yung conflict kung saan-saan nanggagaling.”

He has high respect for his co-actors, but Ben gets overwhelmed to be on screen with veteran actor Christopher de Leon since they will always be involved in an argument most of the time.

“Magaling po si Tito Boyet magbigay eh. I always just do my homework and do my best. [I also] stay focused and try not to get overwhelmed kasi minsan kapag nasa set ako, these guys are institutions in showbiz.”

The Kapuso hunk also narrated that the multi-awarded actor challenged him, “He’s told me nga, ‘You know, I have worked with your Uncle, and [now] I’m working with you. I hope to see something different.’”

“Doon pa lang kailangan mo nang [galingan]. It’s a pressure you put up on yourself, take it as a challenge and that’s all you can do with it. You can’t back away from it. Take it as a compliment. So far naman, okay naman po kami [at] nakakatuwa po talaga si Tito Boy. Intense!” he reacted.

His fellow cast are very welcoming and he looks forward to learn a lot from them as well as to keep the relationship even after the show. Watch for Beautiful Strangers which will air this month on GMA Telebabad.
