Taking on Tuesday

In all the years of Tuesday Vargas’s stay in showbiz, she is usually the comic that injects fun into the serious moments of a show. Or sometimes she is a villain who makes life miserable for the protagonist. But this time, Tuesday is in a role that can show her good and comic side at the same time. Text by Jessa Ericka C. Bien. In Mga Mata ni Aghelita , Tuesday plays Selya, a single mother to the child Iboy (Martin delos Santos), who happens to be Anghelita’s ( Krystal Reyes ) best friend. Simply looking for a partner ako dito, pero parang joke lang. Because of Iboy’s closeness with the young heroine, Selya has also developed an attachment to Anghelita – to the extent that she believes whatever the child envisions. She and Iboy, in fact, are two of the few who believe Anghelita is not cursed as the townspeople accuse her to be. In real life, Tuesday has a son who is about Iboy’s age – the reason why she is comfortable working with children and “sanay akong umarteng nanay”. Thus, there were only little preparations on her part to be fit for the role. So Real Of course, Tuesday’s funny side still shows in the story, and she delivers her crazy antics with ease. Although her character is not originally part of the old radio drama-turned-movie, she believes it is a tinge of reality in the fantasy-themed show. “I think it was an additional character na (kinailangang) i-inject. Tuesday adds that it is this reality aspect that hooks the viewers to the show. “It’s very Pinoy! Inspiring siya and at the same time, nakakapagturo siya ng mabuting asal.” Catch more of Tuesday in Mga Mata ni Anghelita , weeknights after 24 Oras in GMA’s primetime block.
