GMA Network lost one of its gems, GMA Integrated News pillar Mike Enriquez, after it was confirmed on '24 Oras' on August 29 that he passed away at the age of 71.

Kapuso broadcast journalists Mel Tiangco and Vicky Morales were visibly emotional but tried to stay composed as they reported the untimely death of a respected colleague and dear friend.

Emil Sumangil also paid tribute to the award-winning TV and radio anchor.

In a statement released by GMA Network, it stated that Mike will continue to serve as an inspiration not just to his Kapuso, but also to the entire industry.

"The Board of Directors, management, and employees of GMA Network, Inc. deeply mourn the passing of Mr. Enriquez. His dedication to the industry will serve as an inspiration to all. We pray for the eternal repose of our beloved Kapuso."

As celebrities and netizens honor the memories left behind by the 'Imbestigador ng Bayan,' the radio community is heartbroken over the demise of one of their own.

Multi-awarded news personality Arnold Clavio remembered Mike, whom he considered a “father figure.”

“Ang alaala mo ay mananatiling buhay sa isipan at damdamin ng maraming Pilipino. Salamat at hanggang sa muling pagkikita,” Igan said.
