Suspected shabu in bag of Bacolod student found to be fake

It appears that another student was messing around with the high school student in Bacolod City who was caught with alleged suspected shabu in his bag.

Authorities said laboratory test showed that the substance in the two packets confiscated from the student was not shabu, after all.

“We received the result coming from the forensic unit kahapon. Negative siya,” said Col. Eugene Rabadomia, Director of the Bacolod City Police Office.

Now, investigation has shifted to the student who slipped the packets of supposed shabu into the bag of his schoolmate.

The city government and the Department of Education (DepEd) in Bacolod are investigating the incident.

Atty. Marty Go, the secretary to the mayor, said it appears that what happened was an act of retaliation.

The student who allegedly placed the packets in the bag was also the one who reported the same to the security guard.

“Parang gumanti lang siya kasi daw parang may away sila. Estudyante siya. Siya rin ang nag-report sa security guard,” Go said.

The security guard at the school checked the student’s bag following information that he was allegedly bringing a bladed weapon.

IMPACT

The child is made to undergo psychological intervention because what happened may have a negative impact to his mental health.

“There is an impact to an individual who was put into the spotlight, especially it falls in a negative connotation. It can cause fear na baka i-judge ka, lalo na kapag gumawa lang sila ng kwento, natakot ka. There is embarrassment,” said Dr. Don Lastima, a psychologist.

The child’s mother said earlier the allegation has brought his son to tears. She also denied vehemently that her son uses illegal drugs.

The child’s grandmother could not help but get angry for the embarrassment the incident has caused her grandchild.

“Ay, hindi pwede iyan. Naghihirap ako sa pagtitinda ng inasal para may ipakain sa anim ko na mga apo. Sinasabihan ko siya na huwag niyang gagawin iyan,” she said.
