Many were shocked after news came out last week that the three-year-old Philippine Eagle named Pamana was found dead. She was released in to the wild last June 12, Philippine Independence Day.
According to the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF), Pamana sustained a gunshot wound on her right chest when the PEF located her remains on August 16.
Kapuso comedian and artist Michael V was deeply moved by Pamana's death that he paid tribute to the majestic bird of prey through a sketch. The drawing, which he shared with netizens, also carried a short verse.
"Mahal ko ang bayan at ang lahi ko.
May pamanang kulturang maipagmamalaki mo.
Nguni't may pagkakataon na katulad nito,
NAHIHIYA akong maging PILIPINO."
~Michael V.
Pamana was rescued in 2012 in the mountain range of Gabunan in Iligan City, after it survived two gunshot wounds.
