Dingdong Dantes shares his own

By MARY LOUISE LIGUNAS

StarStruck host Dingdong Dantes may be one of the biggest celebrities of his generation, but he’s had his fair share of struggles and challenges before reaching that stature.

He recalled how, at one point, he had to make a choice between showbiz and his studies.

“Nung pumasok ako [sa showbiz], nasa school pa ko nun eh. So tinuloy ko pa rin kahit na nasa college ako. Although mahirap, [I persevered kasi] ang dream ko talaga is makatapos one day. [Pero dumating sa point na] I had to stop school for a time, for [around] six, seven years [because of career engagements],” he said.

Even with his busy schedule and absence from school, he was determined to keep the dream alive by believing in himself.

“I was preoccupied with other stuff, pero sabi ko, naniniwala pa rin ako that one day, darating [din yung time na] yan. So, ginawa ko lang, [out of] sobrang determination, sinisiguro ko na kahit anong mangyari, tatapusin ko siya. [And] nangyari [nga]. Natapos ko siya [last year],” he added.

Even as he reached his goal, he knows that the pursuit for success doesn’t end there. The Kapuso Primetime King acknowledged that him getting his degree is only one step closer towards reaching great heights.

“Now, nasa survival mode na. So, [I ask myself], what will I do after? [The] ‘survive’ part naman is never ending,” he declared.

Same as the winners and avengers of previous seasons, he knows that there is no end to learning and aspiring to be better.

“Kahit naman 'yung mga nanalo [noon sa StarStruck], nandun pa rin sila sa survive mode. Natapos [man] yung pag-dream at pag-believe, [we should stay afloat kaya] nasa survive na, so dapat [pataas ng pataas] 'yung standards natin,” he concluded.
