In 2004, LJ Reyes was only seventeen years old and found herself lining up for an audition.

“During that time, I remember parang marami talagang mga artista search. Reality shows [were] everywhere [so] I got interested. Sabi ko [sa sarili ko] ‘i-try ko nga,’” she shared.

Unlike people she lined up with who wanted to be actors and actresses their whole lives, LJ merely tried it for the sake of experience.

“It wasn’t really that serious. [There was] nothing to lose, so sige, [might as well] try,” she added.

Little did she know that she will make it to the finals of the show and still be an actress more than a decade later.

“Every [week], I [would make it] hanggang sa pa-konti na lang kami ng pa-konti, nandun pa rin ako. [Sabi ko] ‘Wow, nandito pa rin ako, ganun,” she said.

What started out as a spur of the moment decision has become her lifetime love.

“It was really when I started working talaga and getting to know more [about] my craft that I fell in love with it,” she declared.

The Kapuso actress is grateful to be where she is now and still makes sure to treasure every bit of the profession.

“It’s [an amazing] experience kasi you get to know a lot of people, get to talk to [different personalities], [know] 'yung experiences nila [and] you get to share ideas and thoughts… [It’s here in show business that] I learned to take control of my emotions and my thoughts. Naging mature ako on my approach on work and in life. Ang dami kong natututunan talaga,” she concluded.
