After earning his spot at Mister International Philippines last year, Cebuano Nathaniel Tiu is now gearing up for Mister Earth International 2024, scheduled on June 13-21 in Santa Marta, Colombia.
“I maintain a rigorous fitness regimen and adhere to a wholesome lifestyle. Currently bulking up, I consume substantial meals but plan to transition to a cutting diet two months before departing for Colombia,” Nathaniel shared.
With regard to Q&A and walk preparations, Nathaniel stated, “I aim to kick off my walk and Q&A training from April to May, balancing it with my teaching responsibilities,” as he is also a college professor.

Nathaniel Tiu is a proud Cebuano.
Nathaniel Tiu is a Mining Engineering graduate of CIT University in Cebu. He became a licensed engineer in 2016. Currently, he's completing his master's degree in Environmental Studies with a specialization in Industrial Ecology at University of the Philippines Cebu.
Nathaniel's educational background inspired his advocacy and purpose. “As a mining engineer, I advocate for Sustainable Development Goal 15, striving to mitigate the environmental impact of deforestation, pollution, and climate change. I believe in using education and awareness to cultivate a collective responsibility towards sustainable living, ensuring a viable future for our community," he said.
Aside from his educational background, Nathaniel also takes pride in his volunteer work. He said, “My unique strengths lie in my volunteer work and educational achievements. Serving as an ambassador for SEED4COM, a UN-affiliated organization dedicated to education for sustainable development and environmental protection, coupled with nearing completion of my Master's Degree, underscores my genuine commitment to environmental causes, aligning with the values sought in a Mister Earth contestant.”
Nathaniel worked as a safety engineer in a mining company on Dinagat Island, which kicked of his career, followed by a role as a portfolio manager in an insurance firm. Presently, he leads the Mining Engineering Department at a university in Surigao City.
Nathaniel says about one of his traits, “To preserve meaningful conversations, I prefer to silence my phone, a habit that once annoyed a date. To maintain mental well-being, I occasionally detox from social media by deleting apps for extended periods.”
