Filipino Boxer Nesthy Petecio recently bagged the second bronze medal, and the fourth overall, for the Philippines in the 2024 Paris Olympics on Wednesday, August 7 (Thursday, August 8 PhST).

Nesthy took on Poland's Julia Szereneta in the semi-final match in the women's boxing 57kg division. The judges ended the event with a split decision of 4-1 in favor of Poland.

In an official report of the 2024 Paris Olympics, they said that while the odds were not in favor of Nesthy, she was still “on top in the opening round” and that she showed “great grit” in the match to impress the five judges.

While this has ended her Olympics journey, Nesthy still left an impressive mark in the sport and the hearts of Filipinos.
