One Direction ex-member Liam Payne dies at 31 in Argentina hotel fall

Former member of the global hit group One Direction, Liam Payne, tragically passed away on Wednesday, October 16, in a shocking accident.
Police confirmed that the 31-year-old English singer lost his life after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A police statement read, "Liam James Payne, composer, and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo."
Emergency crews responded quickly to a 911 call at the Casa Sur hotel in the upscale Palermo neighborhood.
Alberto Crescenti, head of the city's emergency medical service, explained that Liam suffered "very serious injuries incompatible with life as a result of his fall." He added, "There was no possibility of resuscitation."
One Direction was formed in 2010 when Liam and his co-members Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik appeared on the British television contest The X Factor. The group announced an indefinite hiatus in 2016 but did not officially disband.
Liam had been working on a solo album that same year, following the lead of his former bandmates. He had attended a concert by Niall in Buenos Aires on October 2, according to Billboard magazine.
