Lovi Poe on her breakup with Rocco Nacino: 'I just want to do things on my own'

By GIA ALLANA SORIANO

Lovi Poe revealed the reason why she broke up with former beau Rocco Nacino during an interview with the media at the press conference of her upcoming teleserye Someone to Watch Over Me.

She gushed, “I’m okay. Ako kasi, honestly, if you’re asking me about the breakup, I just want to do things on my own. There’s nothing wrong with the relationship, it’s just that may mga bagay kasi na gusto mo muna gawin mag-isa. Siguro maraming babae naman ang makaka-relate kasi. It’s just, it’s nice kasi if learn to do things on your own. And you grow as a person, bago mo muna ibigay 'yung sarili mo sa ibang tao. Kailangan muna sigurado ka na kayang-kaya mo na sarili mo, na buo ka na.”

She then clarified that their “career” had nothing to do with their breakup. The actress explained, “Wala namang kinalaman 'yung career namin. Because we were doing our own thing. Never naman naming pinigilan ang isa’t isa na gawin ang mga bagay-bagay.”

And there is also no third party involved. She explained, "I’m not saying I’m dating anyone. Pero, of course, may mga nakikilala ako. Pero it doesn’t mean na I’m gonna jump into a new relationship. So, if you’re asking me, I’m not taking anything seriously. I have no plans. Hindi pa ako ready. In the first place, I had everything good with Rocco. The reason why I ended things is because I wanted to [do] things on my own. That’s why it doesn’t make sense if I get into a new relationship."

Lovi also added, “But then it [the breakup] will help us both. It will help us grow. ‘Yun lang naman ‘yun: ‘grow as a person.’ I need to be more of a woman, he needs to be more of a man.
